CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body’s tissues and the structures surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Using light, subtle touch, a practitioner supports the body in releasing areas of tension and restriction, with the intention of encouraging the nervous system and body to return toward greater balance and ease. CST is deeply relaxing and can be especially supportive for people who feel like their bodies are constantly “on.” By creating a quiet, safe environment, the work may help promote relaxation, body awareness, and a greater sense of calm. CranioSacral Therapy is commonly used to support: Stress & nervous system overload — encouraging deep relaxation and a calmer state. Headaches & migraines — helping release tension around the head, neck, jaw, and face. Jaw tension & TMJ discomfort — supporting relaxation of the jaw and surrounding tissues. Neck & shoulder tension — addressing patterns of tightness and physical holding. Sleep difficulties — promoting relaxation that may support more restful sleep. Emotional stress & body-held tension — creating space to notice and process physical and emotional patterns through SomatoEmotional Release. Benefits may include: Deep relaxation and stress reduction Releasing physical tension and holding patterns Supporting nervous system regulation Increased awareness of sensations and emotions in the body Supporting restful sleep Promoting a greater sense of calm and wellbeing Helping the body feel more comfortable, grounded, and at ease What is SomatoEmotional Release? CranioSacral Therapy can sometimes include SomatoEmotional Release (SER)—a process that recognizes the connection between the body, emotions, and experiences. Sometimes the body continues to hold tension or protective patterns long after a stressful experience has passed. During a session, a person may notice sensations, emotions, memories, images, or changes in the body. Rather than forcing anything to happen, SER creates space to gently notice and process what the body may be holding. This can help people develop a deeper connection with their bodies, recognize patterns of tension and emotion, and experience a sense of release and integration. CST and SER are not about forcing the body to change. They are about creating a supportive environment where the body can slow down, feel safe, and access its own capacity for balance and restoration.
